Nyack, NY - In a surprise ceremony athletic director and head men's soccer coach Keith Davie has been inducted into the Nyack College Athletic Hall of Fame during halftime of Saturday's women's soccer game. In the attendance of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Commissioner Dan Mara, Davie's parents and his wife, Nyack College vice president David Jennings honored Keith Davie's commitment and hard work to the institution with the following words:
"In 1997, Nyack College launched an Athletics Hall of Fame with two wonderful athletes and servants in Harold Bowman and Jon Gainer. Nyack's Hall of Fame now represents 60 individuals and two championship teams.
I would like to thank Dan Mara, Commissioner of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, for being in attendance today as we add one very deserving candidate to this prestigious group. Nyack's recognition for sportsmanship and commitment to academics and service is a reflection of the leadership provided by this year's honoree.
Keith Davie joined the Nyack College community as a part-time head coach for men's soccer in 1995. No one has served as a head coach for a longer period of time in the history of Nyack College athletics. Keith has won 202 games as head coach. His teams have won three championships in 1999, 2009 and 2011.
In Keith's first full-time role in Nyack College athletics he launched and led the academic accountability program. Today, Nyack College student-athletes as a whole carry a higher GPA and graduate at a higher rate than the general student body. This is not the case at most colleges and universities. Keith also championed the launching of the concentration in sports management within the business administration program and serves as an adjunct professor.
For the past 20 years, Keith has served as Athletic Director. Under his leadership the athletic department fully transitioned into the NCAA and expanded to the 12 sports we currently offer to student athletes. He has modeled service to both the local community and internationally through outreaches his team has participated in and encouraged this model for all of the coaches and their teams. He has served faithfully in his local church, Living Christ, and in the community as a coach and board member for the Little League.
Today, we acknowledge Keith's role in building Nyack College athletics. As his colleague, I have witnessed many of the unseen things Coach Davie has done to serve students and coaches and create opportunities for them. We also want to recognize Keith's family that has supported and contributed to his work here at Nyack: his parents; sons Nathaniel, Ethan and Matthew; and wife Karen.
On behalf of President Scales, fellow coaches and colleagues, we are honored to induct you, Keith Davie, into the Nyack College Athletics Hall of Fame for your service and success as both a coach and administrator."
Congratulations to Keith Davie!
