Newark, NJ - The men's baseball team added two more wins to their CACC record with a 3-1 and a 8-0 win over Bloomfield College. Nyack now sits at 5-4 in CACC play.
Nyack would strike first in the fourth inning of game 1, taking advantage of two throwing errors to score Kris Chatman and John Kennedy, who had each singled earlier in the inning. The score would remain 2-0 Nyack until starting pitcher & designated hitter Cole Tobin delivered with an opposite field blast to make the score 3-0.
Tobin would allow just one run in the complete game victory, scattering 7 Deacon hits while striking out 4 and walking 2. John Kennedy would also collect two hits in game 1.
The Warriors would immediately get out to a two-zero lead in the first inning of play after a Cole Tobin ground ball scored Kennedy, and a two-out rbi single off the bat of Phil Erwin. Nyack's third run would start after a leadoff bunt base hit from Chatman, who was sacrificed to 2nd by Jan-Pi Crespo, followed by a steal of third base by Chatman who was then scored on a Tobin single. Tobin would drive in the Warriors fourth run in the 5th inning on an rbi double which scored Crespo from first base. Two Deacon miscues would lead to another run in the 6th for Nyack to extend the lead to 5-0, and Eric Roe would make the score 7-0 an innning later on a bases loaded two-out single. Erwin would drive in pinch runner Tino Pardo on a sacrifice fly to make the score 8-0.
Nyack would get its second solid pitching performance of the day from starter Logan White, White would pitch 6 solid innings, allowing 5 hits and striking out three Deacons. Mike Teti would finish out the contest with 3 more zeros, striking out 3 batters in the final three frames.
Tobin would finish game 2 with 3 hits and 3 rbi's, and Phil Erwin would also add a pair of hits and a pair of RBI.
Nyack (5-4 CACC) will return to conference action this Saturday in two important games against Chestnut Hill.
