Pomona, NY - The men's baseball team split a pair of CACC games with #20 Wilmington University by scores of 3-0 and 6-4 today at Provident Bank Park.
The split brings the Warriors to 3-1 in CACC play and 9-9 on the season.
Nyack would add two runs in the first inning of game 1, the first coming on a sac fly off the bat of Hilario Vidaurre to score John Kennedy who had doubled to lead off the game. Ryan Kahl would add the 2nd run in the first inning, drawing a bases loaded walk to score Jan-Pi Crespo. Kahl would give the Warriors a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 5th with his first collegiate homer.
Cole Tobin would throw his third complete game shutout and 4th win of 2014, scattering 5 Wildcat hits and fanning 7 batters.
Wilmington would answer back in game two early on, capitalizing on several defensive miscues to take a 4-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings. Kennedy would drive in the first run of the game for the Warriors in the bottom of the third, doubling home Dylan Schantz to make the score 4-1. Brent James would cut the deficit to 4-2 an inning later with a solo blast to right field, James first homer of the season.
James would lead off the 6th with a triple to center field, and Kahl would follow with a single to center to make the score 4-3 WilmU. Vidaurre would knot the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the 7th when the Warriors used consecutive sac bunts to score Jon Kennedy who had doubled to begin the inning.
Wilmington would rally with 2-outs in the 8th, scoring 2 runs and holding off the Warriors over the final two frames to take the win.
The Warriors, (9-9, 3-1) return to non-conference action Monday night when they take on Dominican College at 7 PM.
