Baseball Adds Guatemalan All-Star Pitcher

Nyack, NY - Men's baseball Coach Matt Cornacchione has announced the signing of right handed pitcher Jose E. Corrales, a 2013 graduate from Liceo Javier High School from Guatemala City, Guatemala (Central America) and transfer from Jamestown Community College, NY, to an NCAA National Letter of Intent.

Corrales played his freshman year in 2014 for the Jayhawks of JCC (NJCAA D3), where he was one of their main starters.  Corrales posted an ERA of 1.85 and a WHIP of 0.904 over 45.3 innings in 8 games. He struck out 41 hitters against 14 walks.

Corrales comes to Nyack with several years of international experience as a mainstay of the Guatemala National team since the age of 9.  He has earned numerous awards over the course of his tournament career and picked up key victories on the mound over teams such as Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

He comes to Nyack with a  reputation of being a strong disciplined, tireless worker and a commitment to help elevate the Warriors pitching staff to another level. At Nyack he will pursue a degree in Business Administration. He is pictured above with his parents Noel and Nuria and sister Valeria.

Coach Cornacchione stated that, "We are very exciting about the addition of Jose to our much revamped pitching staff.  He has great mound presence and has shown that he can consistently command the zone.  I think he's a great fit for us and will push a step closer to our program goals."

Jose will look to help the Warriors (22-20, 12-8) improve upon their third place finish in last year's regular season standings when he joins the team this fall.
