Caldwell, NJ - The men's baseball team fell to Caldwell College in non-CACC action by a score of 12-9 this afternoon at Kiwanis Oval.
Nyack jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Ruben Correa and Yoni Rodriguez delivered back to back rbi singles. Caldwell would knot the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the 1st, but Nyack would regain the lead in the top of the 2nd on an rbi single from Phil Erwin to take a 3-2 lead. Caldwell would again punch back with a 3-run 2nd to take a 5-3 advantage. Jesse Barton would cut the Cougar lead to 5-4 with an rbi double in the top of the 3rd.
From there the Cougars would add 7 runs to take a 12-4 advantage into the final frame. Nyack would cut the deficit to 12-9 and bring the tying run to the plate, but the late rally would fall short as Caldwell would hold on for the non-conference win.
Jack Hudak, Yoni Rodriguez, and Phil Erwin would each collect multi hit efforts in the win.
Nyack returns to CACC action this Monday when they travel to take on Dominican College for a DH beginning at 3 PM.
