Pomona, NY - The men's baseball team came out on the losing side of a doubleheader yesterday evening at Provident Bank Park by scores of 2-5 and 3-7. John Kennedy, Phil Erwin, Craig Jacobs, Tony Campbell, Erik Bussey and Jean-Felix Proulx were honored in a short ceremony prior to the start of game 1.
Bloomfield would score the first run of game 1 in the top of the 6th inning to take a 1-0 lead, but Nyack would answer with a 2-out, 2 rbi single off the bat of Yoni Rodriguez to make the score 2-1 Nyack. Bloomfield would add 1 run in the 7th, 1 run in the 8th, and 2 in the ninth to secure the game one victory.
Bloomfield would put up a 4-run inning in the top of the 2nd in game two to take a 4-0 lead, and the score would remain 4-0 until John Kennedy drove his first career inside the park home run past the Bears centerfielder to cut the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the third.
The Bears would add 2 more runs in the 6th and 1 in the 8th before taking game 2 by a score of 7-3.
Nyack returns to action Tuesday when they host St. Thomas Aquinas at Provident Park for a single game beginning at 3 PM.
