Orangeburg, NY - The men's baseball team came out on top of Dominican College in a non-conference game at Veteran's Memorial Park by a score of 6-5.
Nyack would get on the board with 2 runs in the top of the first, when Phil Erwin started the Nyack scoring with an rbi single scoring John Kennedy. Erwin would come in as Nyack's second run of the inning when Ruben Correa stole second and the throw glanced into centerfield scoring Erwin.
Dominican would take a 4-2 lead, powered by a 3 run homer in the bottom of the first inning. Nyack would cut the score to 4-3 when Kennedy singled in Jesse Barton with 2-outs in the bottom of the 2nd.
Erwin would bring in Kennedy in the top of the 5th to make the score 4-4 on a sac fly to centerfield and Carlos Pino Jr. would add a sac fly of his own in the top of the 6th to knot the score at 5-5 after Dominican had taken a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the 5th.
A Barton triple in the top of the 8th would bring in Correa and the eventual game winning run as the Warriors would earn the 6-5 victory.
Kyle Tedesco picked up his first win of the season in relief, pitching 1.1 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 2. Omar Celaya would retire the side in order in the ninth to notch his 2nd save of 2016. The Warrior pitching staff Jean-Felix Proulx, Craig Jacobs, Tony Campbell, Tedesco, and Celaya would combine for 8 innings of 1 run relief of starter Jack Kelley, scattering 6 hits and striking out 6.
John Kennedy would power the Warrior offense with a 4-5 day at the plate, tallying 4 stolen bases and 2 runs scored. Phil Erwin would also total a 2-hit, 2-rbi day in the win.
Nyack returns to play this Saturday in the opening round of the CACC Tournament. The #5 seeded Warriors will travel to take on Philadelphia University, with first pitch slated for 2 PM.
