Baseball Opens Spring Break Trip with Tough Loss to Assumption

Winter Park, FL - The men's baseball team opened its 2017 Spring Break Trip with a 8-6 loss to Assumption College. The game was played in Alfond Stadium at Rollins College yesterday. The Loss drops the Warrior's record to 1-2.

Assumption would get on the board first in the first inning, while adding another two runs in the top of the third to pull ahead by three, 3-0. Nyack would score its first run of the day in the bottom of the third when Luke Kelly hit a single up the middle, which allowed Anthony Torreullas to score. However, Assumption put up a combined five runs in the 5th and 6th inning to make the score 8-1.

Nyack would answer with two runs of its own in the bottom of the sixth. Carlos Pino and Jesse Barton both scored after errors by the Assumtpion defense to cut the lead down to five, 8-3. The Warriors added another run in the bottom of the seventh, when Luke Kelly scored after a Carlos Pino single. Nyack tried to fight its way back into the game. Jesse Barton and Carlos Pino scored after a Isaak Bustamante doubled in the bottom of the 9th to make the score 8-6. However, the final effort was not enough to tie up the game, which ended with a final score of 8-6.

The Warriors will be back in action today when they St. Anselm in a 3:00 pm contest at Rollins College. Click here for live stats.
