Lyndhurst, NJ - The Nyack College Baseball team lost its first two conference games to Felician University on Saturday afternoon. The games finished with scores of 7-5 and 5-2. The losses drop the Warriors' record to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in CACC play.
Game one saw the Golden Falcons taking the lead early on when they scored three runs in the bottom of the first. Felician would continue their scoring in the bottom of the 3rd, 6th and 7th to gain a comfortable 7-0 lead. Nyack would almost come back in dramatic fashion in the top of the ninth. Yoni Rodriguez would score after an error by the Felician shortstop. Luke Kelly added another run after Ryan Kahl tripled to left field, 7-2. Carlos Pino's sacrifice fly to right field, allowed Kahl to reach home base. Jesse Barton doubled down the right field line to bring Anthony Torreullas home, 7-4. Barton would then go on to score on a wild pitch to cut the Felician lead down to two, 7-5. In the end, the Warrior effort was not enough to catch the Golden Falcons and the game ended with a final score of 7-5.
The second game would see Felician go up by one in the bottom of the first, before they added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Nyack would score a run of its own in the top of the sixth, when Ryan Kahl singled to center field and allowed Yoni Rodriguez to reach home base. Felician would add two more runs in the bottom of the sixth, 5-1. Nyack would add another run in the final seventh inning, when Julio Creazzola scored.
Up next: Nyack will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Mercy College for a non-conference game. First pitch is slated for 3:00pm.
