Chestnut Hill Snaps Nyack Baseball's Four Game Winning Streak

Norristown, PA - The Nyack College men's baseball team lost both its games to the Chestnut Hill College Griffins in a doubleheader played on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors now have a record of 11-10 overall and 4-4 in CACC play. 

Game One

Nyack got on the scoreboard first in the top of the third inning, when Yoni Rodriguez scored after Ryan Kahl grounded out. The Warriors would go on to score two more runs in the inning. Luke Kelly scored after a Anthony Torreullas single and Carlos Pino scored after a single by Ruben Correa

Yoni Rodriguez would score again in the top of the fourth when he reached home base after a throwing error by the Griffins' defense to give Nyack a 4-0 advantage. 

CHestnut Hill would answer with scored runs in the bottom of thr fourth and fifth to tie the game, 4-4. The Griffins would score two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn their first lead of the game 6-4. Nyack cut the lead back down to one, when Gabriel Vasquez scored after a Rodriguez single. But the Griffins would seal the deal with seven scored runs in the bottom of the eighth to earn the 13-5 victory in game one. 

Game Two

Chestnut Hill opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first to gain a 1-0 lead. A scored run by Anthony Torreullas after a Ruben Correa single in the top of the second inning would tie the game at 1-1. But the Griffins would go on to score three runs in the bottom of the fifth and another one in the bottom of the sixth to jump to a 5-1 lead. Nyack tried to get back into game, but was unable to score more than one run in the final inning of the game. Isaak Bustamante scored the last run of the day after a Gabriel Vasquez single. 

Up next: Nyack will be back on Tuesday when they host the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning at Nyack HS in a CACC doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 3:00 pm.
