Nyack, NY - The Nyack College baseball team swept the Goldey-Beacom Lightning in a CACC doubleheader played on Tuesday afternoon at Nyack HighSchool. The wins improve the Warriors' record to 13-10 overall and 6-4 in CACC play.
Nyack got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning, when Carlos Pino scored after a Anthony Torreullas single, before Torreullas also reached home after a Hayden Allen tripple up the middle.
The Lightning would fight their way back into the game in the top of the ninth, but was unable to score more than two runs. The game ended with a final score of 4-2 in favor of the Warriors.
Jack Kellel pitched eight out of the nine innings, striking out nine batters and giving up fours runs. Omar Celaya came to close out the game in the ninth inning to seal the victory.
Jose Corrales led the Warriors from the mount pitching all seven innings and striking out one batter, while giving up four hits.
Up next: Nyack will square off with the Dominican College Chargers in back-to-back action. The Chargers will host the Warriors in a CACC doubleheader tomorrow at Nyack HS. First pitch is slated for 2:00 pm. Nyack will host the Chargers at Nyack HS on Thursday for another CACC doublehaderstarting at 3:00 pm.
