New Castle, DE - The Nyack College men's baseball team earned a split with the Wimlington University Wildcats in a CACC doubleheader played on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats, who are currently ranked second in the CACC took game one with a final score of 5-3, while the Warriors came out on top in game two with a score of 3-1.
Wilmington scored the first run of the day in the bottom of the first, before Nyack would tie the game in the top of the third. Yoni Rodriguez doubled to left center and Hayden Allen reached home plate. The Warriors would take the lead in the top of the fourth, when Anthony Torreullas scored off a Luke Kelly single to third base.
But the Wildcats would respond immediately with two runs in the bottom of the fourth to regain their one-run lead, 3-2. Yoni Rodriguez scored off a Carlos Pino single in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 3-3. However, the Wildcats would go on to score a run each in the bottom of the fifth and sixth inning to earn the W in game one.
Nyack scored in the top of the first, when Yoni Rodriguez reached home plate after a wild pitch. Wilmington tied the game in the bottom of the second, before Nyack would answer with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. Yoni Rodriguez homered and Ruben Correa scored off a Jesse Barton single to earn the W for Nyack in game two.
Up next: The Warriors will be back on Thuesday when they host the Philadelphia University Rams in a CACC doubleheader played at Palisades Credit Union Park. First pitch is slated for 12:00 pm.
