Nyack Earns Second Win in three Days after Beating Bentley University 5-4

The Nyack College baseball team got its second win in three days during their annual Florida Spring Break Trip. The Warriors squared off with the Bentley University Falcons on Sunday afternoon. Nyack won the game with a final score of 5-4 and improved their record to 4-2-1 on the season. 

Austin Fischer got the Warriors on the scorebaord first when he homered for the first time this season to give Nyack 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Fischer would get his second RBI of the day in the top of the third when he singled and Matthew Johnson reached home plate. Nyack continued to add on to their lead steadily. Matthew Johnson singled in the top of the fourth to send Luke Kelly and John E. Bean III homebound, 4-0. Johnson would then go on to score a run himself after a Herman Alvarado single. With the score at 5-0 for NYack the Warriors looked like the winners for the day. But the Falcons thought otherwise and started a comeback effort that was almost rewarded. Bentley scored runs in the bottom ot the 5th, 7th, and 9th to make the score 5-4 coming up one run short of tying the game. Chase Morris got the win on the mount with 7.0 pitched innings and seven strikeouts, while freshman Logan Mann got the save with 2.0 pitched innings and one strikeout. 

The Warriors will be back today when they face the Bentley University Falcons for a second time. First pitch will be at 2:00 pm at Rollins College.
