Baseball Cruises Past Mercy in Non-Conference Action

The Nyack College baseball team was back in action on Thursday afternoon whey they faced off with the Mercy College Mavericks in non-conference action. The game marked the first one back after their Spring Break trip to Florida. The Warriors took the W with a final score of 23-3 after the final 9 innings. With the win the Warriors improved to an overall record of 7-6-1.

Nyack would score an incredible 14 runs in the first four innings to take the lead. Mercy scored their first two runs in the bottom of the fifth. But the Warriors weren't done yet. They added nine more runs in the remaining innings to make the score 23-2. Mercy scored the last run of the game in the bottom of the 8th. 

Matthew Johnson led the Warriors with four total hits. Herman Alvarado, Carlos Pino, and Isaak Bustamante all recorded three hits each. Bustamante delivered an incredible two triples and six RBIs with his three hits. Alvarado scored the lone homerun for Nyack. 

The Warriors sent a plethora of pitchers to the mount. Starting pitcher Hakim Williams got the win against Mercy, while Jack Kelley and Daniel Hupal led in strikeouts with three. 

Up next: The Warriors will travel to Philadelphia on Saturday to open conference play with a doubleheader against the Jefferson University Rams. First pitch is slated for 12pm.
