Nyack, NY - The Nyack College baseball team hosted the Mercy College Mavericks on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference matched at the Palisades Credit Union Park. The Warriors lost the game with a final score of 6-9, which drops their overall record to 9-9-1.
The Mavericks enjoyed the better start jumping to an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first. Nyack would try to get their way back into the game scoring a run each in the first three innings, 5-3. Luke Kelly scored in the bottom of the first off an error by the Maverick's defense. Matthew Johnson reached home plate in the bottom of the second and Carlos Pino scored in the bottom of the third after Jonathan Santiago was walked with the bases loaded. But Mercy kept the Warriors at bay with four more runs that we scored between the 5th and the 8th innings to extend their lead to fsix, 3-9.
The Warriors would score a pair of runs in the bottom of the 8th when a Pino single allowed Luke Kelly and Herman Alvarado to reach home plate. Chris Colotti scored the final run for Nyack on the day in the bottom of the 9th after a Luke Kelly single to left center.
The Warriors will be back in action tomorrow when they host the Post University Eagles in a CACC doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00pm.
