Nyack, NY - The Nyack College baseball team hosted the Post University Eagles in a CACC home doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles got the W in both games with final scores of 7-12 and 2-4. With the loss the Warrors' record drops to 9-11-1 overall and 2-4 in CACC play.
Game one saw the Eagles jump to an early 4-0 lead in the first two innings of the game. Post would add another pair of runs in the top of the 4th before Nyack would get its first run up as well in the bottom of the same inning. Luke Kelly scored for the Warriors with his first homerun of the season. Post added another four runs in the top of 5th, but Nyack answered right away with three runs of their own. Austin Fischer scored off a Gabe Vasquez single. Vasquez then reached homeplate himself after a Kelly fly out. Herman Alvarado scored the last run of the inning after a Carlo Pino single up the middle. The Warriors scored another run in the bottom of the 6th when Vasquez off a Alvarado single with the score 5-10 in favor of the Eagles. Post scored a run each in the top of the 7th and the 8th to make the score 12-5. Nyack pushed for one final effort to get themselves back into the game. Kelly and Vasquez scored after a Anthony Torreullas double. However, the Eagles pitching staff kept the Warriors from inching any closer than that.
Post scored first again in game two in the top of the second. They added another three runs in the top of the 4th to go up 4-0. The Warriors scored their only two runs in the bottom of the 7th. Anthony Torreullas scored off a passed ball and Carlos Pino scored off a Chris Colotti single to right field.
The Warriors will be back tonight when the host the St. Rose Golden Knights in a non-conference match at the Palisades Credit Union Park. First pitch is slated for 6:30pm.
