Wilmington, DE - The Nyack College baseball team made its way to Wilmington, DE, to take on the Wilmington Wildcats in the first round of the CACC playoffs.
The first two innings of the game remained scoreless. The Wildcats broke the deadlock in the bottom of the third. Nick Macey scored off a muffed throw by the Warrior's defense. Wilmington added another run when Brooks Ryan scored for the Wildcats after a Kendall Small single. The Warriors tried to get back into the game but were kept at bay by the Wildcat's pitching staff. In a good game the Wildcats defended their 2-0 lead until the end. THe Warriors posted two more hits than the Wildcats on the day with a 7-5 advantage, while comitting 3 errors. Senior Jack Kelley pitched his final game and went all eight innings, while giving up five hits with two strikeouts.
The Warriors finished their season with a overall record of 24-24-1 and a 17-15 CACC record. Herman Alvarado led the Warriors with a batting average of .335 on the season. Luke Kelly posted the most hits with 59, while Alvarado led Nyack in scored runs with 48. Anthony Torreullas came up first for the Warriors in RBIs with 35, while Carlos Pino led Nyack in homeruns with total of five.
Both Chase Morris and Jack Kelley led the Warriors with seven total wins. Kelley finished the season with a ERA of 2.32, while Morris posted a ERA of 3.15. Freshman Logan Mann led Nyack in saves with five.
