Warriors Baseball Splits Against Concordia

The Nyack College Warriors baseball team competed against the Concordia Clippers today in an away conference double header. The Warriors split the game winning the first game and losing the second. The score of the first game was 11-3 Warriors and the score of the second game was 13-6 Concordia. 

Game 1: 

Nyack started the game off strong scoring 4 runs in the first inning of the game. These runs scored featured hits by Alec Petterson with a double to left field, Dave Gauthier with a double to left center, Matthew Johnson with a single to left center, Brandon Rivera with a single up the middle and a stolen base. The Warriors scored another run in the top of the 6th inning when Yoni Rodriguez homeruned to left field, the score at this point in the game was 9-0 Warriors. In the bottom of the 6th inning, Concordia reached the scoreboard with a homerun hit scoring 2 RBIs. Concordia then flied out to right field in the 7th inning scoring another run. Nyack scored 2 more runs in the 9th inning ending the game 11-3. 

Game 2: 

Nyack started off strong again in the second game scoring three of their runs in the first inning. David Gauthier reached first base on a throwing error, Alec Petterson doubled to right center and Matthew Johnson doubled to center field. Concordia put themselves on the scoreboard in the first inning as well scoring 2 runs, one on a fly hit and another on a single hit. In the third inning Brandon Rivera hit a sacrifice fly bringing home Gauthier. Concordia hit a homerun and a double scoring a total of 4 RBIs for the third inning. In the 5th inning, David Gauthier doubled to right center bringing home Austin Fischer. Concordia went on a scoring streak and scored 7 runs in the 6th inning, taking a far lead against Nyack winning the game. 

Key Performances: 

Matthew Johnson went 2 in 4 with 1 run scored and 2 RBIs in the first game.

The Warriors will face off in an away conference double header against Chestnut Hill on Saturday April 13th at 2 and 5:30PM.
