Nyack Baseball Defeated by Chestnut Hill

The Nyack College Warriors Baseball team competed against Chestnut Hill College Griffins in an away conference double header losing both games. The score of the first game was 18-7 and the score of the second game was 9-5. 

Game 1: 

Chestnut Hill was the first to put themselves on the scoreboard in the first inning on a throwing error. The Griffins continued to play hard scoring three more runs in the second inning. Nyack reached the scoreboard in the third inning when the catcher for Chestnut Hill errored helping Austin Fischer reach home. The Warriors scored their second run of the game in the 6th inning when Gabriel Vasquez singled to shortstop helping Alec Peterson score. in the bottom of the 6th inning Chestnut Hill homeruned to left center earning 2 RBIs. In the 7th inning the Warriors scored 2 runs, one on a triple by Yoni Rodriguez and the other on a catching error bringing Rodriguez home. Chestnut Hill dominated the scoreboard for the next two innings scoring 7 runs. Nyack attempted to come back in the 9th inning scoring three runs but was unable to bridge the gap. 

Game 2: 

Chestnut Hill started the game off strong scoring six of their total runs within the first two innings of the game. The Warriors put themselves on the scoreboard in the third inning scoring 2 runs, one on a triple hit by Yoni Rodriguez bringing home Austin Fischer, and the other on a sacrifice fly bringing home Rodriguez. In the 4th inning Yoni Rodriguez hit a triple to right center bringing home Austin Fischer and Brandon Rivera. Both Nyack and Chestnut Hill scored their last run of the game on a sacrifice fly. 

Key Perfomances:

Yoni Rodriguez had a total of 9 at bats with 6 hits, 3 runs scored and 4 RBIs between both games.

The Warriors Baseball team will face off in an away conference double header at Wilmington University on Wednesday April 17th at 12 and 3PM.
