Men's Basketball Falls to Pace 77-54 in Season Opener

Injuries led to only 8 warriors suiting up in tonight's matchup

Nyack, NY - In front of great crowd, the Warriors came out playing intense defense but struggled offensively and trailed 10-2 early in the game.  Nyack would then go on an 11-4 run to close the gap to 14-13 midway through the first half.  Strong defense continued as with 5:59 to go in the 1st half the Warriors  trailed by only 1 point 22-21.  Pace would then use a 17-2 run to close out the half and that segment set the Warriors back mightily as they were defeated 77-54 tonight in Bowman Gym.

"I thought we came out with great energy tonight.  We had some guys that logged alot of minutes.  I never felt like we gave up.  We saw a ton of youthful mistakes that we must clean up.  For the most part I was happy with of our defensive play---it was the 16 turnovers and the 11 missed free throw's that played a huge role in this loss.  Pace is a very good team and they did a great job of capitalizing off of our mistakes all night long.  We can't make that many errors and have a chance to win.  We must rebound from this lost quickly and take on a very talented New York Tech team tomorrow night."

Khalid Samuels led the way with 16 points and 3 assists.  Chris Hampton added 10 points for the Warriors.  Keon Williams from Pace led all scorers with 25 points.
Nyack Tips off vs New York Tech at 6pm in Bowman on Saturday.  That game is proceeded by Bloomfield vs Pace at 4pm respectively.
