OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Jan. 2, 2013) – The men's basketball team fell short to non-conference east region match up against NYIT yesterday by a score of 71-57.
Nyack jumped out into an early start leading for the majority of the 1st half. NYIT's Azel Prather Jr. scored a jumper during the last four minutes to take the lead bringing them 26-24. Chris Hampton ended the half with a 3-pointer leaving the Warriors trailing by 5 points.
During the 2nd half the Bears would continue to push the lead to eventually close out with a 14 point victory over the Warriors. Khalid Samuels and Chris Hampton lead the Warriors in scoring with 17 and 15 points. Both men were 6-13 shooting and Samuels also totaled a team best with 5 assists and 4 steals. Frank Martin pulled down a team high of 8 rebounds.
Nyack returns to action Saturday, January 5th to take on Chestnut Hill, which will be a home game at 3 PM.
