Clippers Notch Win Over Nyack Warriors 72-60

Bronxville, NY  The Nyack College men's basketball team traveled to local conference rival Concordia College this afternoon.

With both teams coming off consective losses--this was a huge game to get back in the win column.  A tightley contested battle early saw the score tied at 8 with 14:39 to go in the first half.  Later in the half the Clippers utilized a 10-0 run to open things up.  Nyack would head into halftime with a 12 point deficit trailing 37-25.

Similiar to the Warrriors recent 2nd half rally against Post University, they would rally again today after trailing by as many as 15.  Nyack pieced together a 21-9 run that trimmed Concordia's lead to 3 with a score of 49-46.

Missed free throw's and costly turnovers would stand in the way of the Warriors completing the comback for the win as Concordia made several key plays down the stretch to hold on for a 72-60 victory.

"I just didn't feel like we had "it" tonight.  We came out somewhat flat in the first half, especially on the defensive end.  Concordia has some talented players and we allowed them to get open looks early in the game.  Our defense has to start the game better then that.  I thought we increased our intensity in the 2nd half when we went on the run that cut the deficit to 3 points.  That was a great energetic segment that we have to build off of.  Our free throw shooting continues to be an issue and it really hurt us again today.  We can't miss 11 free throw's and expect to win."  -Coach Crafton

Three Warriors scored in double figures in today's game.  Leading the way was Khalid Samuels with 17 points and 5 steals.  Chris Hampton scored 13 points and pulled in 7 rebounds, while Frank Martin added 12 points respectively.

Nyack continues conference play on Tuesday at home against Felician College at 8pm.
