Men's Basketball Guts Out Win Over Felician College, 70-69

NYACK, N.Y. – (Jan. 15, 2013) Nyack notched a victory over Felician College 70-69.  Felician is currently ranked 4th in the CACC North Division.  The Warriors were led by Sophomore Chris Hampton who scored a game high 23 points.

"I'm extremely happy for our guys right now.  They gutted out a really tough win tonight.  Felican is a talented team.  Their size at every position can be over whelming.  I felt like our guys had great fight in them and withstood the ups and downs of the game for 40 minutes." - Coach Crafton

Trailing by 4 at the half....Nyack came out of the locker room for the second half and took the lead almost immediately scoring eight unanswered points.  Felician, down by four, responded with two jump shots to tie the contest 38-38 with 16:57 on the clock, and this tug of war clash continued right down to the wire.

Falcons center, Auotunde Oyeniyi, scored a jumper to take the lead by 1 point at 2:41. Nyack steped up their defensive play in the final moments of the game having Warrior Miguel Martin block a dunk by Felician's Tajric Boggs at 1:05. Warrior Hampton proceeded to fight through the pressure to nail 5 points, which gave Nyack back control of the lead, 67-68. Felician missed a jump shot and after two put-back attempts, they got the tip-in with 9 seconds to spare leading by one point. Things obviously not looking so well for Nyack however the team did not loose focus. Hampton would draw the foul with 4 seconds on the clock, going 1-1 to tie the contest and then 2-2 to seal the final score 70-69 handing the Falcons their 10th loss of the season. This loss would break Felician's CACC two game winning streak.

"This was a game where multiple guys stepped up tonight.  Will Robinson gave us a tremendous lift off the bench pulling in 9 rebounds.  Khalid has his best floor game of the season dishing out 9 assists and adding 17 points---the kids playing at an all conference level right now and we need every bit of it.  Chris Hampton's clutch free throw shooting to win the game and his 23 points and 4 assists really ignited us, while freshman Darren Chew provided great minutes off the bench tonight. This was truly a  hard fought team win" – said Coach Crafton.

Nyack returns to action facing Caldwell in another CACC matchup Wednesday January 23rd. The 8pm contest will be held on their campus in Caldwell, New Jersey.
