Nyack Falls Short To Cougars 78-64
CALDWELL, N.J. (Jan. 24, 2013) - The men's basketball team was defeated by Caldwell College yesterday evening in a conference matchup by a score of 78-64.
Caldwell took a commanding 12-3 lead over the first 5 minutes of play, Nyack then responded with a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to 14-10 with 12 minutes remaining in the half. Caldwell proceeded to open up their lead to 42-21 at the half.
The Warriors dominated the start of the second half going on a 29-14 run and ultimately shrinking the lead to 6 with the score at 56-50 with 10:36 left in the game. That was as close as Nyack would get before being defeated 78-64.
"This was truly a game of halves. The 1st half we did not play Nyack Basketball on either end of the court. We seemed extremely flat. The second half we came out with great energy cut a 21 point deficit to 6 within 10 minutes. We just couldn't finish it out. It takes alot of energy to win a game after going down by 21. I'm proud that we fought back but we have to stop getting down by double digits in the 1st half." -Coach Crafton
Chris Hampton (Queens, NY) posted a team best 21 points, while Khalid Samuels (Mt. Vernon, NY) tallied 20 points. Both guards totaled 4 boards each while Miguel Martin (Miami, FL) had a team high of 5 rebounds. Will Robinson (Mt. Vernon, NY) contributed 8 points off the bench for Nyack.
As their last home contest resulted with a win for the Warriors, the men will look forward to another homecourt advantage next week, as they take on Bloomfield University, Tuesday January 29th at 8pm.
