Warriors Snag Season Opening Win Over Mercy College, 87-71

NYACK, NY (November 8, 2013)

In a non-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match-up, the Nyack Men's Basketball Team captured their first victory of the season on Friday against Mercy College following a 87-71 win at home.

Five Warriors would notch double digits in scoring for Nyack.  Junior guard, Chris Hampton (Queens, NY) led Nyack with 26 points while sophomore Will Robinson (Mt. Vernon, NY) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the night. 

Making his first official appearance in Bowman after transferring from Navy, senior guard Isaiah Roberts (Pennsauken, NJ) tallied 13 points.  Juniors Khalid Samuels and Nick Moore would each add 10 points respectively, while Dante Agnew would dish out a game high 8 assists. 

For Mercy, Nate Stitchell led with 18 points while teammates LeBrandon Smith and PJ Walters both recorded 14 points each in the loosing effort.

The win allowed Nyack to open the year with a victory for the first time since 2008. 

Warrior basketball (1-0, 0-0 CACC) will try to win their second straight game on Wednesday evening when they face Felician College in their first conference game of the season. 

Tip-off is set for 8:00 PM eastern time at Bowman Gymnasium. Fans unable to attend can watch the action streamed live for free via College TV Ticket.
