Warrior men's hoops traveled to Delaware dropping a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to hosts Goldey-Beacom College, 68-55 Saturday afternoon at the Jones Center.
The Warriors, who were led by junior guard Chris Hampton (Queens, NY) with 17 points, slip to 2-4 in league play, while the Lightning improve to 3-3.
Goldey-Beacom jumped out to an early 16-9 lead. The Warriors would get down by as many as 15 in the first half. With 2:53 left Nyack responded with a 6-0 run to make the halftime score 35-26.
In the second half, by 11:49 Goldey Beacom Guard Kyle Steinbergin nailed his fifth trey of the game to give GBC their largest lead on the day, 51-33. Nyack fought back to cut the deficit to five points from an 11-0 Warrior run with 3:50 remaining but GBC was able to pull away en route the 68-55 loss for the Warriors.
Nyack was out-rebounded by a margin of 40-35 and as a team GBC shot 75.0% (15-20) from the free throw line while Nyack made 23-33 (69.7%).
Men's basketball (4-8, 2-4 CACC) takes the court again on Wednesday January 8th in an away match against Concordia College. Tip-off is slated for 3PM.
