BRONXVILLE, NY (January 8, 2014)
Men's Basketball played in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest at the Meyer Athletic Center where the Warriors defeated Concordia College 93-70.
The win would mark the largest margin of victory for Warrior Basketball since 2004.
Chris Hampton (Queens, NY), who was recently Honorably Mentioned by the CACC this week, led all scorers for Nyack with 24 points. Classmate Nick Moore (Sicklerville, NJ) tallied 19 points while Freshman Ezra Gaines (Easton, PA) recorded his career best 18 points in twenty-three minutes of action off the bench.
The fourth Warrior to record double figures on the day was Isaiah Roberts (Pennsauken, NJ) with 10 points respectively. He also added 4 assists. Miguel Martin (Miami, FL) chipped in with a season high 7 points off the bench along with a game high 7 rebounds.
The Warriors began the game trailing for most of the first half. At 12:27 Concordia would reach their largest lead on the afternoon, 16-7. A little over a minute later Nyack rallied off an 11-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 22-21. Warriors had the halftime advantage entering the locker rooms as the score reflected 43-34.
From here, the Clippers never saw another lead. Nyack continued to stretch the second half score by a margin of 50-36 en route to the 93-70 game win.
Nyack out-rebounded the Clippers 44-38 and shot 48.3 percent from the field compared to the 36.8 percent by Concordia.
Norman Pope led Concordia with 21 points in the losing effort. Douglas Soutar pulled down 7 boards for the Clippers to tie the game high with Nyack's Martin.
"This was a great overall team win tonight. We got contributions from several guys. We now have to get ready for a talented Bloomfield team this weekend," states Nyack Head Coach Jason Crafton.
Warrior men's basketball (5-8, 3-4 CACC) is scheduled to play next at home on Saturday January 11th at 3pm against Bloomfield College.
