The Warriors opened up the 2016 season with a battle against the Stonehill Skyhawks in day one of the Assumption Classic. Stonehill is coming off a 24-9 season and was a participant in last years NCAA Elite 8.
Nyack started the game hot taking an early 9-2 lead to start the game. The Warriors would continue their strong start by holding an 18-8 advantage at the 10:23 mark of the first half. Stonehill would respond with a run of its own as a 3-point shot by Freshman Daniel Largey gave the Skyhawks a 35-33 lead over the Warriors at halftime.
Stonehill came out firing in the second half as the Warriors would get down by as many as 17. A late rally by the Warriors capped off by a Shawn Witherspoon layup at the 1:04 mark would trim the lead to 7 (75-68). That rally was not enough as Stonehill would continue on to defeat Nyack 78-68.
Imran Ritchie led the Warriors with 18 points and 5 assists and 4 steals. Nyack enters day two of the Assumption Classic with a matchup against the host Assumption College. The game is slated for a 6pm tipoff. Click HERE to watch the game live.
