The Warriors concluded day two of the Assumption Classic with a 68-67 buzzer beater win over the host Assumption College. This marks the first time the Warriors have beaten an Northeast-10 team since a 65-62 win over New Haven on December 29th 2009.
Nyack got down early 16-6 at the 12:58 mark as Assumption started the game strong. The Warriors Bench would provide a much needed spark to help the Warriors cut the deficit to only 2 points at the half (36-34).
Late in the second half a free throw by Robert Tyler would put the Warriors ahead by 7 (65-58) with 43 seconds left in regulation. A resilient Assumption team would respond with a quick 8-2 run capped off by a Declan Soukup layup to give the Greyhounds a 67-66 lead with 7 second remaining in the game. The Warriors quickly got the ball into Imran Ritchie's hands who drove the ball hard into the lane and assisted Ga'Briel Chandler who layed the ball in as the clock winded down. Watch the play HERE
Three Warriors reached double-figures led by Robert Tyler (18 points & 7 rebounds). Jaron Smith would add 12 points and Imran Ritchie finished with 10 points. Ga'Briel Chandler who's buzzer beater won the game finished with 8 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.
Damien Rance led Assumpsion with 18 points.
Next up the Warriors take on local rival Mercy College at Bowman Gymnasium on Wednesday, November 16th. Tip off is slated for 7pm.
