RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Nyack College men's basketball team dropped its CACC road match against the Felician University Golden Falcons, 62-50, on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.
Senior Robert Tyler led the Warriors with 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals. His teammate Jaron Smith would also reach double figures with 10 points. On the glass Nyack was led by Shawn Witherpsoon and Ga'Briel Chandler who recorded nine rebounds each.
With the loss Nyack drops to 3-6 (0-5 CACC), while Felician improves to 6-5 (3-3 CACC).
The first ten minutes of play saw several lead changes between both teams. Nyack trailed Felician by one point at the 11:26 mark after a Robert Tyler 3-point shot, 13-14. But Felician would use a 12-0 run to increase their lead to 13 with 2:50 left in the first half, 13-26. The Warriors came back within ten, before Felician would restore their 13-point lead with a made three point shot right before halftime. The first half finished with a score of 16-29.
Felician started the second half with a 12-4 run to increase their lead to 21, which also marked the largest lead the Golden Falcons would reach on the afternoon. In the following minutes the Warriors used a 17-3 run to cut the Felician lead down to seven with 7:52 left in the game. In the last minutes of the game both teams would battle back and forth. Nyack came within six points after a Robert Tyler layup at the 2:24 mark. However, Felician was able to hold on to their lead and the game finished with a score of 62-50.
Nyack steps out of CACC play to host Adelphi University on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
