Nyack defeated by Adelphi at home, 99-66

Nyack, N.Y. -- The Nyack College men's basketball team suffered a non-conference loss in a home game against the Adelphi University Panthers, 99-66, on Monday night at Bowman Gym.

Nyack (3-7, 0-5) had two players in double figures, led by Robert Tyler's 23 points and ten rebounds. He was followed by Shawn Witherspoon with 10 points.

Adelphi used an early 13-2 run to earn an eleven point lead at the 14:53 mark. Nyack asnwered with a 12-2 run of its own to get back within one with 12:12 to go, 15-14. The Panthers would get back to a ten-point lead at 7:55 minute mark, but Nyack would cut the Adelphi lead back to one with 4:17 to go. Both teams were battling back and forth, with Adelphi holding the lead for the remainder of the first half, which finished with a score of 44-36 in favor of the visitors.

Adelphi used another 8-2 run with the start of the second half to increase their lead to 14, 52-38. The visitors increased their lead to 33 during the remainder of the second half, while shooting 60% from the field and 59% from behind the arc during the game. The Warriors were held to 32% shooting throughout the game.

Nyack returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 17, when they host Dominican College in a CACC match-up at Bowman Gym. Tip-off is slated for 3:00pm
