Men's Basketball Finalizes 2017 Recruiting Class

NYACK, NY - Warriors head coach Jason Crafton announced today that: Carl Balthazar, Tahj Malone, Deandre Osuigwe, Malik Pouncy, Ezekiel Snowden, and Sae'Quahn Rogers are all set to join the Warriors this fall.  These prospects will join spring Warrior commit Elijah Farley to complete a 7-man in-coming class!  

Coach Crafton on the 2017 recruiting class: 
"This is a strong class of high-character student-athletes that embrace our institution's mission.  Each player comes from quality institutions where they excelled both academically & athletically.  Additionally, ALL have experienced team success and have competed in post season. These are some of the key attributes that we were striving for.  Mulitple areas of need were addressed with this group and we are ready to kick off pre-season training in the coming weeks."  

Player Info (listed alphabetically): 

Carl Balthazar is a 6'6 Forward from Brooklyn, NY.  He is a recent graduate of LaGaurdia Community College.  Last season, LaGuardia finished with an impressive 22-9 record along with winning the City University of New York Title (CUNY).  Carl averaged 9.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game.  His 2.8 blocks per game ranked 5th in the nation.    

Tahj Malone is a 6'6 Guard/Forward native of The Virgin Islands that played his prep career at Montverde Academy (FL). He was teammates with current NBA Star Ben Simmons on Montverde's 2015 National High School Basketball Championship Team that achieved a 31-1 record.    

Deandre Osuigwe is a 5'11 sharp shooting guard from Sarasota, Florida.  DeAndre played his entire prep career at the prestigious IMG Academy. This past season IMG garned a 27-2 record and finished the season ranked #11 in the Nation by USA Today.  DeAndre averaged 8 points, 4 assists and 3 steals per game while shooting over 35% from 3-point range.

Malik Pouncy hails from Boston, MA.  The 6'3 shooting guard played his prep basketball at Commonwealth Academy in Springfield, MA.  This past season Commonwealth achieved a 23-9 record and landed the 5th seeed in the National Prep Championships.  Malik averaged 11 points per game and was ranked as 31st best senior in the state of Massachussets by the New England Prep Report.

Sae'Quahn Rogers hails from Burlington, NC and is a transfer from Pfeiffer University.  Last season Pfeiffer received an at-Large bid to the NCAA Tournement and finished with a 26-5 record.  The 6'4 Forward averaged 6.4ppg, 4.7rpg, while shooting 42% from 3.  He recorded 3 double-doubles on the season including an 18-point, 11 rebound performance vs Division 1 opponent UNC Wilmington.

Philadelphia native, Ezekiel Snowden is a 6'5 Forward from Faith Christian Academy.  This past season was a historic one in which Faith Christian finished with a 28-4 record along with an appearence in the state tournament semi-final.  No other team in school history had made it that far.  "Zeke" led the way with 16.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 4.5 steals per game.
