Rutherford, NJ – The Nyack Men's Basketball Team traveled to New Jersey to compete with CACC members, Felcian University. Prior to the match up, the Warriors go 1-0 in conference play and after this game they fall 1-1. Imran Ritchie led the Warriors offensively with 15 points while Elijah Farley contributed defensively with 3 steals and 4 rebounds.
In the first half, the Warriors proved solid as they had a 7-0 run. Contributing to that was Imran Ritchie with 4 points and a 3-pointer from Elijah Farley. The Warriors hold onto the lead until the Golden Falcons tied the game, 7-7. Felician began to pull away with the lead before the Warriors would tie the game again at 15:33 with a score of 11-11. As the Warriors continued to trail, Rashard Lewis found himself at the free throw with 2 successful shots. Nyack went on to have a 4-0 run with Shawn Witherspoon accumulating those points. However, the Golden Falcons answered back after a Warrior foul. This put Felician up 29-19. Making his fourth point of the game was Carl Blathazar after his layup giving the Warriors 23 and Felician 32. Following up with that was teammate, Rashard Lewis, with another shot from behind the arc. He would add another 2 points to the scoreboard after making two free throws with just under 5 minutes left of the first half. Nyack continued to battle back and close the gap as Elijah Farley put the last shot of the half for the Warriors with just 33 seconds left. Farley also led the Warriors with 9 points. Felician would lead at the half, 42-34.
Remaining prominent and motivated, Nyack would make the first 2-pointer of the second half. Curtis Thompson with the assist to Carl Balthazar put the Warriors 36 while the Falcons had 42. Elijah Farley made another layup to answer back to the Falcons. Nyack continued to battle back however the Falcons continued their lead throughout the second half. Rashard Lewis added another shot from behind the arc. Freshmen, Deandre Osuigwe, made his presence at the free throw line with 10 minutes left of the game. The Falcons continue to lead, 68-52 at 9:43. Calvin Willis for the Warriors made his first shot of the game with just under 6 minutes left of the game. He went on to make an incredible block. That was not enough for Nyack as Felician made a shot from behind the arc. The score now 80-61, Golden Falcons. The Warriors continued to fight as Curtis Thompson went 2 for 2 behind the free throw line. Felician created a 27 point lead at 3:30 left in the game. However, a layup by Imran Ritchie and then steal by Rashard Lewis to assist Shawn Witherspoon helped Nyack to close that lead. In the end, Nyack could not close the gap with Felician. The Warriors fall 77-98.
Nyack will continue their season with another conference match up against Dominican College. This away game is set for Saturday, December 9th at 3:00 pm.
