The Warriors fell last night in a back and forth battle with conference opponent Bloomfield to drop to 2-4 in conference play. The Warriors jumped out of the gate with great energy and it carried over throughout the whole game.
The Warriors jumped out to an early lead and midway through the first half took an 8 point lead off of an offensive rebound tip-in. Bloomfield was able to fight there way back and the rest of the half was a seesaw battle with Bloomfield heading into the break up 42-41.
Coming out in the second half the intensity would remain the same. On the first possession of the second half Nyack would take the lead thanks to one of junior Carl Balthazar's five triples. Nyack would push the lead up to six early in the second half but Bloomfield was able to fight back and retake the lead at the 15 minute mark of the second half. The game would remain close the rest of the way. With five minutes to play the Warriors took a one point lead, but Bloomfield would return the favor with one of their 15 three's on the night. The Warriors would keep battling, but were not able to overcome the defecit. The final score finished up at 97-86 in favor of the Bears from Bloomfield.
On the evening the Warriors were led by freshman DeAndre Osuigwe who had 21 points, and Carl Balthazar who had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Both Balthazar and Osuigwe each knocked down 5 triples.
The Warriors return to action on Saturday, January, 6 at 3pm vs non-conference opponent Stonehill College at home.
