Men's Basketball Knocks off Chestnut Hill 81-79 in Overtime Thriller!

NYACK, NY - The Warriors were on the road again as they faced conference opponent Chestnut Hill in Philadelphia.  Their second half rally forced the game to overtime where they were able to prevail with an 81-79 victory.  The win moves Nyack to 3-5 in conference play on the season.

Chestnut Hill came out of the gates ready to battle as they took an early 9 point lead midway through the first half. After a timeout the Warriors would battle back and retake the lead on the tail end of a 10-0 run. Both teams would trade the lead as the half went on until the Griffins were finally able to pull away heading into the half up 8. Coming out in the second half it was more of the same as the Griffins and Warriors would exchange baskets. Nyack would make a push, but Chestnut Hill would answer back everytime. It felt as though the Warriors couldn't get the lead under six points. Finally after a pair of free throws under the five minute mark the Warriors cut the deficit to five. Chestnut Hill would continue to answer every Nyack bucket, until the Warriors finally got a stop at the 2 minute mark. The very next possession senior Imran Ritchie found Elijah Farley for one of his six 3FG's to cut the lead to 2. A pair of FT's from the Griffins would push the lead back to four. Farley would again answer with a 3 trimming the lead to 1. A tough baseline jumper on the next possession would push the lead back to 3 with just under a minute to play in regulation. Nyack would take a timeout to set up their action and organize everyone on the court. The Warriors were able to execute to perfection as Ritchie again found Farley for his 3rd straight 3FG. The three would not the game at 69 and force overtime as Nyack was able to get a stop on the last possession.

To start the overtime Nyack would get a quick bucket from Imran Ritchie to give the Warriors their first lead since the first half. Chestnut Hill would again answer back and regain the lead. Finally a three from Carl Balthazar would give Nyack the lead at 78-75. They would not lose the lead the rest of the way. Nyack was lead by senior Imran Ritchie who had 23 points and 7 assists. 8 of his 23 points came in the overtime. Junior Elijah Farley would contribute with 20 points including going 6-10 from 3.

Head Coach Jason Crafton stated: "This was a great win for our program.  We saw major contributions from alot of players along with a ton of team resiliency.  We are going to need to continue that as we push forward in league play."
