Nyack, NY - The Nyack College men's basketball team hosted the Felician University Golden Falcons in a CACC match played at Bowman Gymnasium on Tuesday night. The Golden Falcons would defeat the Warriors with a final score of 63-76. Felician improves to a 8-8 (5-3 CACC) record, while the Warriors fall to 3-13 (3-6 CACC).
Junior Elijah Farley led the Warriors with 14 points on the night, shooting 50% from behind the arc. He was closeley followed by Rashard Lewis with 11 points (3 for 3 from thee-point range). On the defensive end Carl Balthazar showed his strength with three blocks and a steal.
Felician would jump to an early 7-0 lead within the first two minutes, before the Warriors started to get going and cut the lead back down to three points, 9-12 at 15:30 minute mark. The Golden Falcons answered with a 13-2 run to jump to a 14-point lead with 11 minutes to go, 11-25. Back to back three pointers by Elijah Farley and Rashard Lewis would see the Warriors score 8 unanswered points to cut the Felican lead down to six points. Nyack continued to chip away on the Golden Falcon's lead coming within four with five minutes to go in the first half, 24-28. But Felician would enjoy a stronger finish in the remaining minutes of the first period extending their lead back to 14 points. The first half finished with a final score of 29-43 in favor of the Golden Falcons.
Nyack's Balthazar scored the first two points of the second half, but the Warriors were unable to find their way back into the game. The Golden Falcons were able to defend their double digit lead through the majority of the second half, which eventually finished with a score of 63-76.
Nyack will be back on Saturday when they host the Wilmington University Wildcats in a CACC match at Bowman Gym. Tip off is scheduled for 3pm.
