Nyack, NY - The Nyack College men's basketball team hosted the Dominican College Chargers for their last regular season game on Saturday afternoon. The Charges came in ranked as the 2nd best team in the Division. The Warriors came out victorious with a 76-62 win over the Chargers. Head Coach Jason Crafton took some time before the tip to honor this year's seniors Imran Ritchie and Rashard Lewis for their contribution to the program. Both seniors were vital parts in the victory over Dominican with Ritchie leading all players with a total of 23 points on the day.
The Warriors enjoyed the better start into the game with a 12-3 run that was initiated by Ritchie layup and a Lewis three-pointer. The Chargers would answer with a 9-2 run to cut the Nyack lead down to two with 10:46 to go in the first half. But back to back points by Imran Ritchie and a layup by Shawn Witherspoon would extend the lead back up to eight at the 8th minute mark. Nyack continued its strong performance through the remainder of the first period extending their lead to as much as 15 with 2:39 left in the first period. Dominican would eventually cut the lead down to 11 points before the buzzer sounded for halftime.
The Warriors continued to impress in the second half and kept Dominican at bay. The Chargers came as close as six points but were never able to make the final push to tie the game. The game ended with a final score of 76-62 in favor of the Warriors. Ritchie led Nyack with 23 points and five assists. Shawn Witherspoon (13) and Rashard Lewis (12) were up next on the scoresheet with double digit performances. With the win Nyack finishes their 2017-2018 season with a 7-12 CACC record that placed them 5th in the North Division, two games shy of a potential playoff berth.
