Men's Basketball Announces 2019-20 Coaching Staff
Nyack, NY -- The Nyack College men's basketball team and head coach Valiant Jones are proud to announce the addition of four new faces to the 2019-20 coaching staff. Head coach Valiant Jones will be joined by returner Omar Grant and the four newcomers Cortez Rawls, Naanma Yamsat, Cliff Smith, and Rob Hueston.
Cortez Rawls enters his first season on the Warriors' staff as Director of Basketball Operations. Rawls will provide day-to-day administrative support for the program and assist in on-campus recruiting visits. His responsibilities will also include coordinating team travel, manage all game-day operations, maintaining and updating the teams' calendar and serving as a liaison for athletic administrative areas.

Rawls returns to Warriors Men's basketball program after playing the past two seasons at Nyack college (2017-19). He also attended Passaic Community College for two seasons (2015-17). Rawls is no stranger to keeping things organized on the court. He helped run a handful of youth basketball camps which included the Nyack college basketball camp, Montclair High School basketball camp and Basketball101 basketball camp located in Montclair, NJ. Rawls is pursuing his bachelor's in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management.

Yamsat enters his first season on the sideline for the Nyack Warriors after serving as a Coach with the Empire State Storms AAU program in 2018. Yamsat will assist in all areas of the program including player development, scouting, recruiting, program operations and academic coordinator. 

Yamsat returns to Nyack College after playing four seasons with the Warriors (2013-17). During his time as a player, he accumulated numerous accolades including Honor Roll Student-Athlete 13-17, Presidential Scholar-Athlete 2014-17, Harold W. Bowman Character Award Winner - '2017, Nyack College Athletics Warrior Award - 2013-17 and CACC All-Academic Team - 2014-17. Yamsat graduated from Nyack College with his bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Math.

Cliff Smith joins the Nyack athletic department as a strength performance coach for the Nyack Warriors Men's Basketball team. Cliff will work day-to-day with players and coaching staff on training, recovery, weight room and nutrition.

Cliff brings a wealth of knowledge of the game through many years of experience. He has held various head and assistant coaching positions over the past 15 years. He served as the Talent Evaluator and Skill Developer with the Brooklyn Wildcats 16U for three years. Coach Smith brings an extensive background of knowledge in physical and athletic training and has demonstrated a serious commitment to the development of student-athletes. Cliff is currently a certified trainer and serves as Athletic Director at Dr. Susan S. McKinney High School in Brooklyn, NY. Cliff holds a master's degree in Music from the University of Oklahoma, a master's degree in Science & Educational Leadership and a bachelor's in Performing Arts from Xavier University of Louisiana. 

Hueston enters his first season on the sideline for the Nyack Warriors after serving as Assistant at Thomas University Thomasville, GA the last two seasons where he was responsible for player management, scouting, program operations, recruiting and assisted in coordinating official and unofficial visits for recruits.

"I am truly excited to have Hueston as part of our staff," said Jones, who is entering his second season at the helm. "As a player, having tremendous toughness and experience under his belt, and also coaching experience at the Division II level, he is going to be able to bring so much to the table for us. He is a young polished coach that has a bright future, I am looking forward to helping Hueston continue on the path to success as a coach."

Prior to his stint at Thomas University, Hueston played two seasons at cross-town rival Dominican College and was named an honorable mention for the CACC All-Conference Team the 2014-15 season. He also attended Orange County Community College for two seasons and was named 2nd Team All-Conference 2011-12. Hueston graduated from Dominican College 2015 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

"I'm thrilled to be apart of this basketball staff," said Hueston. "It is truly a blessing to have a chance to continue my career with Coach Jones. I'm looking forward to the opportunity and challenge of building the Warrior's Men's Basketball program. I am more than ready to work with our student-athletes as we not only prepare them for this upcoming season but for academic success and life. I'm excited to coach alongside Coach Jones!"
