Thompson Buzzer Beater Lifts Warriors Past Holy Family

The Nyack College men's basketball team competed in a home conference game agaisnt Holy Family University. In a game that was close in score with many lead changes, tied scores, and traded posessions, the Warriors pulled through in the very last second winning on a buzzer beater by Curtis Thompson. The Warriors added the win to the record with a final score of 73-70. 

In the first half of the game, Holy Family was the first to put themselves on the scoreboard with a three pointer two minutes into the game. The Warriors quickly followed putting themselves on the scoreboard with a three pointer by Thomas Nolan. From there, the Tigers took the lead but the Warriors wouldn't let them have it for long and tied up the score at 15-15. Nyack then took the lead with two free throws made by Curtis Thompson. With 12 minutes left in the half, both teams had lead changes and tied scores until the half ended with a totaled score of 42-37 with the Warriors down. 

The second half of the game began with the Warriors at a disadvantage being behind by five points but that did not stop the Warriors from fighting for every point. Nyack trailed consistently two points behind the Tigers until ten minutes left in the game when the Warriors tied up the score at 55-55 with a three-point jump shot by Thomas Nolan. From there, both teams battled head to head for the win competing on an even level. With 38 seconds left in the game the Warriors tied up the score at 70-70. Both teams battled for that last point to win the game. With eight seconds left and the Nyack with possession, the ball slipped out of the hands of Joel Bailey being picked up by Curtis Thompson who scores the buzzer beater on a three point jump shot winning the game for the Warriors. 

Overall, the Warriors were 40.7% from the field, 30.8% from behind the arc, and 85% in free throws. Offensively and defensively Jayden Dawson led the Warriors with 17 total points, 10 total rebounds, 1 block, and 2 steals. Honorable mention: Curtis Thompson with the game winning buzzer beater.
