The Nyack College men's basketball team competed in an away conference game against Goldey-Beacom College. In a game where the Warriors dominated the first half and was challenged in the second, the Warriors consistency is what helped them secure the win with a final score of 75-71.
In the first half of the game, it was clear that the Warriors were controlling the court. With a 57.7% from the field and 54.5% from behind the arc compared to the Lightning's 24.1% from the field and 0% from behind the arc, the Warriors were able to secure a solid lead that helped them in the second half when the opposing team picked up their pace. The score at the end of this half totaled out at 41-21.
In the second half of the game, the opposing team increased their statistics by almost tirty percent in both the field and from behind the arc. This gave the Warriors a run for their money in fighting for the win in this game. Throughout the half the opposing team worked to bridge the twenty point gap they had at the end of the last half and they were successful. With one and a half minutes left in the game, Goldey-Beacom made a layup putting them in the lead over Nyack. The Warriors quickly came back and tied up the score at 69-69 with a 3-point jump shot by Thomas Nolan. From there, both teams went head-to-head for the upper hand. With ten seconds left Jayden Dawson made a dunk and was soon followed by two free throws made by Joel Bailey that secured the win for the Warriors.
Overall, the Warriors were 54% from the field, 54.5% from behind the arc, and 81.8% in free throws. Offensively and defensively Joel Bailey led the team with 15 total points, 7 total rebounds, 8 assists and one steal.
