Men’s Golf Program Discontinued

NYACK, NY -- After working over the past year to align strategic goals and resources within the College, the athletic administration has decided to discontinue the men's golf program beginning July 1, 2017.

The decision was reached after deliberation with the administration in an effort to concentrate energy and efforts into larger roster programs.  The decision was not reached easily and the success of the program in the past few years made the announcement difficult.  It is always difficult to limit opportunities, especially for young men who want to compete in a sport about which they are passionate, but like every athletic department nationally, we have to constantly evaluate where to strategically allocate our resources.

The decision was based on an evaluation of roster viability and overall costs. The graduation of many team members made the timing to discontinue the program ideal.

College officials said funds supporting the men's golf program will not be allocated elsewhere in the athletics program.  No additional sports will be discontinued at the present time.

"Although discontinuing men's golf is disappointing, we continue to strive for excellence in our other programs with our ultimate goal to win championships," said Director of Athletics Keith Davie.  "We remain excited about the future of Nyack athletics."
