Wilmington, DE - The men's soccer team was defeated by Wilmington University by a score of 4-3 in the first period of OT this afternoon in a CACC conference nice tilt. The loss brings the men's overall record to 4-4-1 and 3-1-1 in CACC play.
Nyack would strike first 8 minutes into the contest, when Benjamin Kwast drilled his third goal on the season when he connected on a through ball from Maxi Fuchs from 17 yards out. Wilmington would strike twice during the 11th minute of play, to gain a 1-2 advantage over the Warriors.
Nyack would answer with two consecutive goals of its own to end the half. The first goal would come off the foot of Marco Likos, for his 8th goal of the season off a cross from Nicolo Baudo. Kwast would follow with his 2nd goal of the match, when he found the net from 20 yards out after a pass from Andrew Albright.
Wilmington would knot the game in the 66th minute, and both teams would remain scoreless through regulation, despite a 15-3 Wilmington shot advantage.
Wilmington would notch the game winner with seconds remaining in the first overtime period, giving them the 4-3 victory.
Nyack will look to bounce back this week, when they travel to Concordia College on Tuesday for a match at 3 P.M.
