ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 7, 2013)
The Nyack men's soccer team played to a 0-0 double overtime draw against Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon. The Redhawks showed strong defensive skills as neither team could break the stalemate.
"I thought the guys fought well throughout the entire 110 minutes of play and we were happy to come away with the point on the road" said assistant coach, Curtis Julien.
Nyack opened the game with the first Warrior shot by Mathias Wenger at 10:46 but the Warriors could not capitalize as it resulted in a Redhawk save. The defense continued to hold strong on both sides for the remainder of the match.
In the 91st minute Maxi Fuchs released a corner kick that threatened to end the game and one last shot was taken by Roberts before the first overtime period expired. During the second overtime period the Redhawks would hold a 4-0 shot advantage but nothing to penetrate the Warrior goal.
As a team, Nyack put six of their 16 shots on frame and Warrior goalie Tom Lohman would hold the home team scoreless to conclude the day with six saves.
With the ties, Nyack is now 1-0-1 after their opening week of games and looks forward to their next contest; a CACC season home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 11th at 4pm on Mosley Field.
