Nyack Shuts out Bridgeport, 0-2 for Second Win of the Season

NYACK, NY (September 18, 2013)

Coming from a tough loss on the road, the Nyack Men's soccer team would earn their first win at home for the 2013 season after shutting out the University of Bridgeport in a non-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup, 2-0, on Wednesday afternoon.

In the 1st period, Matthias Wenger (Rostock, Germany) laid in the first goal for the Warrior team by way of a corner kick from teammate, Jakob Schwanitz (Rauen, Germany).

Nyack would begin the second period leading 1-0 until the 47th minute where sophmore midfielder, Maxi Fuchs, sored the second Warrior goal, assisted by Alex Schmidt (Horburg-Masslau, Germany).

As four shots on goal were taken by Bridgeport, goalkeeper, Tom Lohman (Berlin, Germany) would tally 4 brave saves, holding the Purple Knights to a scoreless afternoon.

The Warriors (2-2-1, 0-1 CACC) will be back in action on Saturday as the team will host Georgian Court University for a CACC matchup. Kickoff is set for 2:30pm.
