NYACK, NY - The Nyack College men's soccer team fell behind early to Chestnut Hill College and could not fight back, dropping a 2-1 contest to the visiting Griffins in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle.

How It Happened
Nyack began the match on an aggressive note, taking many shots during the 7th and 8th minutes however many of them were forced high, wide, or blocked by the Griffin defense. Juan Amaya put Chestnut Hill on the scoreboard first with a 1-0 lead during the 16th minute until graduate midfielder Tobias Reissig (Cologne, Germany) found Stefano Cozzarelli (Guayaquil, Ecuador) a little less than ten minutes later to tie the match, 1-1 during the 26th minute.

With about six minutes left in regulation Griffin goalkeeper, James Jackson, sent a long kick to teammate, Joseph Casaletto, who received a header by a Griffin teammate and went one-one-one with Warrior goalkeeper, Michael Reger. After a few dribbles, Casaletto fired in the game-winner just before halftime (2-1). Nyack was unable to find the back of the net throughout the second period as Chestnut Hill successfully kept Nyack at bay to earn the victory on the day.

Despite the tough loss, nine seniors/graduate students were recognized for their contribution to the Warrior soccer program and were given honorary plaques: Justin GabrieleMaximillian SchmittArtur PiperkovToni MutschlerPiotr PiaseckiJosh SchochTobias ReissigAlex Schmidt, and Warrior team manager, Oscar Avila.
