The Warrior's travelled Tuesday, October 20th, to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference competitor, the Bloomfield College Bears. After facing a tumultuous 90 minutes of aggressive play, the Warrior's were unable to tie or overcome the Bears, leading to a 1-0 finish.
How It Happened:
Nyack's defense demonstrated their strength as freshman Wiktor Lasota (Lodz/Warsaw, Poland) prevented 8 shots from scoring on the Warrior net. The offense comparatively put in their best efforts against a solid Bear defense with three Warriors placing 2 shots and three Warriors earning 1 shot, with 3 shots on goal for the night. Sophomores Storm Glautier (Stellenbosch, South Africa), Francois Legoedec (Etreville, France), and Reinaldo Sanchez (West New York, NJ) each tallied 2 shots while Sanchez and Glautier managed to place 1 of their shots on goal. Sophomore Samuel Viau (Stormville, New York) would garner the remaining shot on goal for the Warriors.
The first half, though scoreless, saw plenty of action on each end of the field as Nyack put up 4 shots and the Bears contributed 6. Each keeper earned at least half of their saves with Bloomfield earning 2 of their 3 saves, while Lasota split an even 4 saves per half. The first 20 minutes of play were completely dominated by the Bears with 4 shots with 1 save for Lasota. Viau would break the control of the bears putting up Nyack's first shot on goal for the night. He was soon followed by Legoedec with a shot before the two teams began splitting control. Shots were traded back and forth as the clock ticked away leaving the first half scoreless.
Lasota was forced to the demonstrate his skills in the goal early in the second half as he earned two saves in the first 2 minutes of play. Shots continued to be placed on each end of the field until the 70th minute when Bloomfield found their way onto the scoreboard with a shot from inside the six yard mark. The Warriors were determined to find the net and break the Bears lead before the clock expired; however, despite shots by freshman Finn Reese (Hamburg, Germany) and Glautier, they were unable to overcome their opponents. The match would conclude with a final score of 1-0 in favor of the Bloomfield College Bears.
Nyack will travel again Saturday, October 24th, to face Chestnut Hill College in a CACC match at 3:00pm. The Warriors will return with two home games scheduled, the last two games of regular season play, to occur at OMM Sports Complex next week.
