Nyack, NY – A goal in the first minutes of the second half helped the Nyack College men's soccer team to a 1-0 road victory at Bridgeport University.
The Purple Knights had the upper hand for the first 20 minutes of the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Wiktor Lasota (Lodz, Poland) was forced to make several incredible saves to keep the score 0:0 until halftime.
The Warriors ended the first 45 minutes with a 4-11 disadvantage in shots. Wiktor Lasota made 5 saves to keep Bridgeport of the scoreboard.
The momentum swung with the start of the second half and the Warriors tried to strike early on. It was senior forward Andrew Kupp (Galloway, NJ) who converted a long throw in from Finn Reese (Winsen, Germany) to give the Warriors the lead. Nyack gained more control over the game and almost scored the second goal of the night when junior midfielder Francois Legoedec (Etreville, France) hit the post. The Warriors went on to create nine more shots in the half and outshot the Purple Knights 10-7. Daniel Coviella made 5 saves for Bridgeport while Wiktor Lasota recorded 7 saves to secure the clean sheet for the Warriors.
Nyack returns to the road this Saturday with a trip to Sparkill, NY to face St. Thomas Aquinas at 12:00 pm.
