Nyack, NY. – Earlier this afternoon, the men's soccer team took on the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College in their first CACC game of the season. The Warriors played their counterparts even in the first 45 minutes, but it was the Lightning who broke the silence in the second half. The Lightning would score in the 58th minute to take a 1-0 lead which would last through regulation. With the loss, Nyack drops to 1-3 while the Lightning move to 2-1.
The Lightning came out firing right off the bat, testing keeper Michael Reger early on. However, Reger was able to keep his goal clean, recording three saves in the first 45 minutes. The Warrior ended the first half with a 4-8 disadvantage in shots.
In the 58th minute Reger would bring down a Lightning forward inside the box. Mateus Silvestre converted the penalty to give the Lightning the 1-0 lead. The Warriors pushed for the tying goal but couldn't find the back of the net. In the 78th minute the game was interrupted by a 30 minute lightning delay. Once the game was back on, both teams continued to battle hard through the reamining 12 minutes but neither team could convert any of their opportunities. The 90 minutes finished with a score of Nyack 0 Goldey-Beacom 1.
Michael Reger finished the game with nine saves.
The Warriors return to action on Tuesday, September 13 when they travel to Molloy for a non-conference matchup. Kick is at 4:00pm.
