Nyack, N.Y. – The Nyack College Men's soccer team earned its third straight win against the Bloomfield College Bears on Tuesday night. The Warriors defeated the Bears 3-1 and improved to a 5-7 overall, 4-4 conference record, while Bloomfield dropped to 3-7-2, 2-5-2.
It only took the Warriors four minutes to get on the board. Finn Reese found teammate Nicholas Scarafile with a cross, who was all by himself in the Bloomfield box to give Nyack the 1-0 lead. However, Bloomfield answered with a goal 9 minutes later to tie the game 1-1. Nyack regained the lead in the 21st minute when midfielder Francois Legoedec sent a beautiful through ball to Finn Reese, who scored his 6th goal of the season. 10 minutes later it was Reese again, who converted a skip-header by Benjamin Wasem to score his second of the night. The first 45 minutes would finish with a score of Nyack 3 Bloomfield 1. Bloomfield outshot the Warriors 10-6 in the first half, while Wiktor Lasota recorded five saves.
Bloomfield tried to get back into game during the second half. However, even though the Bears enjoyed the majority of the possession in the second period, they were unable to create any promising opportunties. The score would remain unchanged throughout the second 45 minutes.
The Warriors held a 9-19 disadvantage in shots, while recording one corner kick. Wiktor Lasota would finish the night with a total of seven saves.
Up next, Nyack hosts the Chestnut Hill College Griffins on homecoming weekend, Saturday, October 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 pm at Moseley Field.
