Men's Soccer Clinches Playoff spot with road victory over Wilmington, 1-0

Wilmington, DE - The Nyack College men's soccer beat the Wilmington University Wildcats 1-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) clash.

The first half remained scoreless until the 42nd minute when a long throw by Sam Viau was cleared by the Wilmington defense. However, the ball landed right in front of Finn Reese, who scored his 9th goal of the season to give the Warriors the 1-0 lead. The first half ended with a score of Nyack 1 Wilmington 0. Nyack recorded a 2-11 disadvantage in shots during the first 45 minutes. Wiktor Lasota recorded four saves in the first period.

The second frame featured four corner kicks (1-3) and eight total shots (3-5 Wilmington). Finn Reese almost sealed the victory with his second goal of the day with 10 minutes left, but his shot into the lower left corner was denied by the Wilmington goalkeeper. The game finished with a final score of 1-0 and the Warriors secured their playoff spot with today's victory. Nyack had a 5-16 disadvantage in shots, while recording one corner over 90 minutes. Lasota finished the game with a cleansheet and seven saves.

Nyack (7-8, 6-5 CACC) will travel to Mercy College this upcoming Tuesday for a non-conference match. Kick off is slated for 3:00pm.
